James Tutton

Co-founder, Board Member

James has been highly active as an entrepreneur in Melbourne for over fifteen years.

In 2012, James co-founded not-for-profit Smiling Mind. Smiling Mind is now Australia’s largest mindfulness meditation training app. James has also co-authored a book on mindfulness, Mindfulness Made Easy.

James combines his role at Smiling Mind with a portfolio of complementary non-executive positions in the arts, education and business spheres.

His latest venture is The Plato Project, an online and on campus business school that aims to educate globally aware and strategically minded entrepreneurs to use commercial values and creative skills to use business as a force for good.

James is a founding board member of Contemporary Arts Precincts (CAP). CAP is a new not for profit whose first project is the ambitious re-purposing of Melbourne's Collingwood TAFE site into one of Australia's largest multi-disciplinary artistic communities.

James is also a Director for Neometro, where he drives the development and commercial side of the business while maintaining its strong design integrity. 

James has an entrepreneurial background, having established Moonlight Cinema in Melbourne in 1996, the business was subsequently sold to Amalgamated Holdings Limited (Greater Union).
